Episode 85 - Night of the Hunter
(Love and Hate)
The guys are back from their brief tour through Middle Earth and New Zealand as they discuss a new film. This week that sit down around the kitchen table to talk about the 1955 noir classic “The Night of the Hunter” .
Matt takes on the role of Pastor Powell to give us a sermon on the film's synopsis of Love and Hate. He gives us the film's premise of what Powell is trying to accomplish with the two children and his goal to get 10 thousand dollars off the Widow and Orphans.
Joey takes a tangent and looks to Powell’s motivation of stealing and killing from old widows and spinsters within the Ohio River Valley. Joey also comments on the possible sexual motivations of Powell and why he may or may not be like Clyde Barrow when it comes to women.
Finally Tim gives us his thoughts on how this film was produced and directed. Tim tells about Charles Laughton’s directing on this set as well as the very Theatre-like experience this movie has.
All in All it is another Review for our Anniversary films for the year of 2025 as we wrap up before our Christmas episode.
